Soke Jodai Chet B. Chesher, Rokudan (6th Degree Black Belt)
My name is Chet Chesher and I am 42 years old. I am living in Phoenix Arizona. I have been practicing Kenpo for twenty-three years.
I have practiced the martial arts since February 1979 and have been teaching since 1991. I
received Shodan, in Kajukenbo (ka-ju Kempo), from Master Andrew Torok on April 25, 1982.
From January of 1986 until June of 1988, I trained with Sensei Rochford, Yondan Kajukenbo
I received training in Kali from Mike Knauf, a certified instructor under Danny Inosanto from
January of 1984 to December of 1984. In the fall of 1984 I began instruction in Northern Shaolin,
Green Dragon, Tai Praying Mantis by Sifu Arthur Berry.
After moving to central Pennsylvania in the Fall of 1988, I studied Pai-Lum (White Dragon) under
Grand-master Pai and his instructor Michael J. Rothermel, until the spring of 1990 when I moved
to Oklahoma. I began teaching Kajukenbo to fifteen students for the next four years.
After moving to Wisconsin in 1993 I began instruction in the art of Wing Chun, under Sifu Steve Roth,
in the system of Grandmaster William Cheung. I attended one seminar under Grandmaster
William Cheung in 1995 and trained until it's closing in 1996. In December 1995 Master Torok promoted me to Sandan in the art of Kajukenbo
In 1994 William Martin introduced me to Grandmaster Ron Bradbury. Grandmaster Bradbury
promoted me to Sandan, American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu, in March 1996. I accepted an award for
outstanding martial artist in 1996. In March of 1996, Sifu Art Berry promoted me to Black Sash
in the art of Northern Shaolin, Green Dragon, Tai Praying Mantis. I attended a seminar under
Grandmaster Ron Bradbury on March 1, 1997.
I was promoted to Yondan, American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu, by Grandmaster Ron Bradbury on March 1, 1997.
I was awarded Instructor of the Year 1996 by the International American Kenpo
Bu-Jutsu Karate Association. On July 4th, 1998, I recieved my Master Rank of Godan, and on
June 24th, 2000 I was promoted to Rokudan in American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu. I am currently
teaching and receiving instruction in American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu Karate from Grandmaster Ron Bradbury.
I am the head instructor at my school located at 3326 W. Bell Rd in Phoenix Arizona.
American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu of Arizona is fully certified by the American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu Karate Association.
The World Martial Arts Hall of Fame inducted me in as "Instructor of the Year 1996" in April of 1997.
